【About the Role】
We are seeking a data-driven engineer to join our Bioinformatics Development Team, with a strong foundation in software development and data engineering principles. You will play a central role in designing, implementing, and optimizing robust analysis pipelines for next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, supporting our in-house clinical-grade assay production workflows. While prior experience in genomics or bioinformatics is a plus, we prioritize engineers who are passionate about solving complex data problems, working across structured/unstructured data, and building scalable, automated systems in real-world production environments.
【Key Responsibilities】
- Design and build data analysis pipelines using Nextflow or equivalent frameworks for reproducible and scalable computation.
- Implement efficient and maintainable software using Python, integrating internal tools and external (3rd-party) bioinformatics software.
- Collaborate with assay designers, wet-lab scientists, and computational biologists to translate analytical needs into scalable workflows.
- Ensure performance, traceability, and robustness of pipelines in clinical production.
- Develop automated QC, logging, and reporting systems for sequencing runs.
- Contribute to continuous improvements in pipeline development, testing, and documentation practices.
【Core Qualifications (Must-Have)】
- Strong foundation in software engineering or data engineering (Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related fields).
- Proficient in Python with best practices in software modularity, testing, and documentation.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Nextflow, Airflow, Snakemake, or similar).
- Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
- Demonstrated experience solving real-world data problems and building production-ready pipelines.
【Plus / Preferred Qualifications】
- Experience working with genomics data formats (FASTQ, BAM, VCF) or NGS data analysis (DNA-seq, RNA-seq, panel sequencing).
- Understanding of bioinformatics tools (e.g., BWA, GATK, samtools, VEP).
- Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Singularity) and cloud or HPC environments.
- Experience in clinical, regulated, or quality-assured software development environments.
